Good Cause of the Day

We're in the middle of the Give More Challenge week, in which people are encouraged to give a little bit more time, money or energy to a charity of their choice. In a nice visual twist, every pledge turns into a pin on this map. The idea is to totally fill the map with pins by 22 September. Think about the causes close to your heart, make a pledge, then fulfil your pledge.

London Weather by Inclement Attlee

Remember Shania Twain? We were once romantically linked. In fact, her potent 1998 crossover hit That Don't Impress Me Much had a hidden verse dedicated to the inadequate advances of yours truly:

OK, so you're a weather forecaster?
That don't impress me much.
So, you got the rain but have you got the touch?
Don't get me wrong, yeah, I think you're alright
But you predicted sun for the middle of the night!

It's true. I did. I was a very poor weather forecaster in those days. Perhaps now that I'm a professional meteorologist, Shania will be impressed. Especially if I tell her that her name is an anagram of "I wanna-a shit". She'll love that.

What's that? Oh, the weather? Yes, it's going to be a massively dry day, with frequent gannets of sun and occasional puffins of wind.
