Stratford Rising Festival: Come And Play

Unleash your inner child at the Stratford Rising Festival this weekend. Among the fun things to do there is – we kid (heh) you not – a giant slide.

The slide will be created by architecture collective Assemble, whom you may remember from Folly for a Flyover and Cineroleum. You can also play Mario Kart on a big screen and indulge in some other retro-gaming, or settle back and watch Labyrinth and Jumanji. Another opportunity to get stuck in is with 'Folk Dance Remixed', described as a combination of street and traditional folk dancing. Morris Men krumping? Who knows. Also look out for the Playmakers, local emerging artists who have been developing interactive games to play with someone just like you.

Local theatre and performance groups Theatre Royal Stratford East, Stratford Circus, Discover, Rosetta Art Centre and East London Dance are all involved, presenting new shows and installations. And the best part is, it's all completely free.

Stratford Rising Festival takes place in Theatre Square, E15, on 7 and 8 September between 12noon and 7pm. All events are free.
