Eastcheap isn't normally the centre of attention in London. But the unassuming road has become a major attraction, with crowds blocking the pavements to stare at the capital's latest talking point.

The reflective facade of 20 Fenchurch Street (popularly termed the Walkie Talkie and now dubbed the Walkie Scorchie) has been all over then news. Jaguars have been warped, eggs have been fried, and the rays have even been harnessed to help find the Well of Souls (in photoshopped form, at least). Still, at least one chap hadn't heard the story. "What the hell are you all photographing," he enquired, as we snapped the camera crews, who were filming the photographers. "Melting cars, my arse," he observed, after we put him straight.

Here we bring you some images of Londoners experiencing the glare for themselves. Warning: wear sunscreen.

Thank you to our Flickrpool friends: Claude Crommelin, David Hardman and Tanya Holland for the images, and M@ for popping down at lunch.
