Hack Circus: Time Travel Live

Screen Shot 2013-09-20 at 15.10.35A new monthly magazine and quarterly series of events both launch on 6 October. Hack Circus is for anyone with an interest in technology, geekery, science and the future. The launch event includes a motley ensemble of speakers, who will each bring along some kind of contraption, invention, or tale of such things.

Sarah Angliss performs odd music with help from her macabre robots. James Larsson is the inventor of 'boot fetish pong'. Sinead McDonald promises a 'time travel contraption'. Matt Westcott will produce live music from a Spectrum. Ruth Gregory is a physicist with time for extra dimensions, or space for extra time. Sandy noble has a 'linear clock' (that's definitely 'clock'), Alby Reid brings entropy, and David Bramwell claims to have seen a 'real time machine'.

In the words of the organisers, "Thereʼs loads of fun, experimental stuff happening in tech right now – but too much of it is snapped up by agencies, academia or maker culture before it gets a chance to truly play. Hack Circus is about providing a space to let ideas be themselves."

The show's put together and hosted by omni-talented Leila Johnson, who you might know from the Shift Run Stop podcast, or any one of dozens of other creative projects she's instigated in the past few years. Expect fun, invention and possibly a few guests from the future.

Hack Circus takes place at the Star of Kings in King's Cross, Sunday 6 October from 2pm. Tickets are on sale now for £10 + £1.25 booking fee.
