Monday 16 September

FILM: To coincide with London Fashion Week, St Martin’s Courtyard present a Fashion Film Festival that spans the next two days. Enter your details for the chance to win tickets — tonight there is a screening of Grey Gardens and tomorrow it's The September Issue (there will also be a limited amount of first come first served tickets too). Tuesday 17 September

SCHOOL: Can the radical teaching techniques of independent art schools benefit design studios and students within design education? Join the discussion at The Book Club in Shoreditch. £4/£3, prebook for cheaper tickets, 7pm

FILM QUIZ: You’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat is a monthly film quiz night, tonight at Hackney Attic. Pop along to test your knowledge. £4, just turn up, 7.30pm

Wednesday 18 September

WIENER LIBRARY: To mark the second anniversary of the Library’s move to Russell Square, visitors can explore some of the library’s new acquisitions and learn about the expanding outreach work. Free, prebook via Katy Jackson, 11am-12pm

FILM: Again at the Wiener Library, visitors can watch a screening of The Children Who Cheated the Nazis, the story of how 10,000 children escaped the Holocaust on the Kindertransport. Free, prebook, 6.30pm

EAST END: Award-winning performers from east London, including comedian Andi Osho, talk about the representation of the East End at this free event at Stratford Circus. Free, prebook, 6.30pm

MURAL: Nazir Tanbouli’s indoor public mural, THE PAINT FACTORY at Fitzroy House in Dalston must be one of the biggest. It spans an enormous 4.5 floors. Hear Nazir discuss his work and enjoy live music, food and dancing. £3, prebook, 7pm

PAGANISM: The Moot With No Name meets upstairs at The Devereux pub to learn about British Pagan groups from the 1970s onwards, with researcher, lecturer and participant Kenneth Rees. £3/£2, just turn up, 8pm

Thursday 19 September

UMEÅ: The Swedish town of Umeå has been named the European Capital of Culture 2014. This largely unknown town stops off in London for two days from today, so find out why it won the title at this hub on Southbank. Free, just turn up, until 20 September

KING RICHARD III: Wallace Collection hosts a lecture, led by Curator of Arms and Armour Tobias Capwell and Bob Woosnam-Savage, Curator of European Edged Weapons at the Royal Armouries, about the recently discovered skeleton of King Richard III in Leicester. Free, just turn up, 1-2pm

HECKLER: Artists Lee Campbell and Mel Jordan explore the potential of the heckler to change our understanding of social exchanges, at Toynbee Studios. £5, prebook, 7.30pm

MUSIC: Head to Madame Jojo's for a live music showcase, focusing on emerging talent. Free, prebook, 7.30pm

Friday 20 September

HOLOCAUST: Dr Robert Friedmann discusses his new book about people who lived through the horrors of the Holocaust, at the Wiener Library. Free, prebook, 1-2pm

DESIGN: Join a lunchtime lecture at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, with design critic Alice Rawsthorn and ICA Executive Director Gregor Muir. £5, prebook, 1pm

FASHION: The lovely Horniman Museum in Forest Hill hosts an evening of catwalks shows, makeovers, masterclasses and talks as part of Forest Hill Fashion week. £3, prebook, 6pm

TAROT: Abraxas is a printed journal exploring the esoteric aspects of art and culture. Join them at Treadwell’s Books for their issue 4 launch party where there will be artist presentations and tarot readings. Free, just turn up, 7pm

Saturday 21 September

GREAT POP: On 15 September 1963, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones performed at one of the most momentous concerts in pop history at the Royal Albert Hall, and that 'Great Pop Prom’ will be celebrated with a new exhibition featuring never-before-seen photographs of the concert, at the Royal Albert Hall. Free, just turn up, until 22 October

LIT FEST: Lots of free things to do at the ArchWay With Words literary festival, which starts today. Take a look at the full listings here. Until 28 September

DEPOT DAY: Bus-lovers, here's one for you. Metrobus open the doors of their depots in Orpington, Croydon and Crawley today with activities at each site. Tomorrow, there is a Metrobus 30 Tour too. Free, see website for details

Sunday 22 September

POLICE: It's the Wandsworth Police Open Day today. Go to Battersea Police Station for a behind the scenes look at what goes on inside. Free, just turn up, 10am-4pm

FUNDRAISER: Camden Arts Centre hosts their Spectacular September Fundraiser today. Join in with painting, book making and animation workshops. Free to attend but donations requested for the workshops, just turn up, 2-4.30pm
