Foursquare Maps London's Movements

Foursquare check-ins show the pulse of London from Foursquare on Vimeo.

Turns out there's more to Foursquare than checking in everywhere, collecting the occasional freebie and bragging to your friends about all the cool places you go. The company has gathered the check-in data for several cities over the last year to create a data visualisation of an 'average day'.

For London, the daily commute is clearly visible, as people check in on their trains and buses, and a fairly constant light blue (denoting transport) mist over the route between Heathrow and central London. Lots of people also check straight into their place of work (trying to wrestle the Mayorship away from Bill in accounts), then the day gently shifts from work to play until the capital grinds to a halt around 3am.
