Welcome, Watchers Of Illusion, To Knightmare Live

KnightmareLiveThis is one of those events that has a very clear dividing line by age. If you're old enough to remember Knightmare, the ITV children's show that blended adventure, live action and ropey CGI, you're going to wet yourself over this. If you're blanking, then you probably don't remember much before 1994, when the original show ended.

Enter Knightmare Live!, a Kickstarter funded project to bring Knightmare to the stage – watch their funny and affectionate video below. Currently running at the Edinburgh Fringe and picking up good reviews (The Skinny took on the role of Dungeoneer and called it "the best thing I’ve ever done"), the show plucks up an audience member, sticks a helmet on them and lets a couple of volunteer comedians shout "SIDESTEP TO THE LEFT!". Which is fine and everything, but it's in Edinburgh.

Except it's also coming to the Bloomsbury Theatre on 27 September. Treguard (played by Paul Flannery, not Hugo Myatt), Lord Fear and the rest bring Knightmare Castle to London. It's a Friday night so we imagine the mead will be in full flow. Pick up a ticket and enter, stranger.

Knightmare Live! is on at Bloomsbury Theatre, 15 Gordon Street WC1, on 27 September, 7.30pm. Tickets £15 + booking fee. For more information and to book see the Bloomsbury Theatre website.
