Fans of innovative electronic music should not miss a showcase of live music from Manuel Göttsching and Schwarzmann at Oval Space on Thursday 5 September.

Manuel Göttsching is a key figure in modern music history. A German experimental musician and composer, he specialises in creating atmospheric soundscapes that draw on the sounds of disco, house and techno throughout the decades. Hugely influential, his style has helped to develop house and electronic music as we now know it.

Producing innovative music and inspiring dozens of artists since the 70s, Göttsching’s performance at Oval Space looks set to be an impressive exhibit of his talent. It is also a rare treat — this is his first London appearance in 13 years.

He will be joined by the UK debut of Schwarzmann — an experimental music duo comprising house and techno producers and DJs, Henrik Schwarz and Frank Wiedemann. Similar to Göttsching, they focus on creating ambient live shows that are peppered with improvisational techniques and surprises.

This is not your usual, regurgitated audio package. This is clever, off-the-cuff music-making that promises to give the audience a unique glimpse of electronic music throughout recent history.

Manuel Göttsching and Schwarzmann Live takes place at Oval Space, 29-32 The Oval, London, E2 9DY on Thursday 5 September at 8pm. Tickets cost £30 but Londonist readers can use the promo code MANGOTTLONDON for £5 off. For more information please visit the website.
