Happy Birthday Dear Alexandra Park

A very Happy Birthday to Alexandra Park, which turns 150 this year. On Sunday, the north London park will celebrate its milestone with the Alexandra Park 150th Birthday Party — a free community event featuring live music, entertainment and family activities.

Alexandra Park was originally designed in 1863 by landscape architect Alexander McKenzie as a Victorian leisure ground. Over the years, the space has played host to a miniature Japanese village, a deer park, hot air balloon rides, BMX events and a horse racing course.

Reflecting the Victorian enterprising spirit, the Alexandra Park 150th Birthday Party has no shortage of fun things to do and will feature:

  • Performances from local community groups and entertainers
  • A funfair
  • Park walks and tours
  • A street party
  • Activity zone featuring pitch and putt workshops, cricket and community games
  • Tethered helium balloon
  • Pedalo races
  • Ice skating
  • Trackless train
  • Victorian street performers
  • Farmers’ Market

The heart of the event will be in The Grove but activities will take place all over the park’s lovely 196 acres, so why not head along and wish Alexandra Park a Happy Birthday in person.

Alexandra Park’s 150th Birthday Party takes place on Sunday 21 July between 11am-4pm. The event is free to attend but some of the activities are paid. See the website for full details.
