Woof, bark, yap, howl, etc etc. London dog owners and lovers, here is an unmissable event for your canine calendar: Dog Day 2013. Taking place at the Design Centre by Chelsea Harbour on Wednesday 3 July, you and your canine pal can indulge in a day of unadulterated fun — doggy style.

The day is split into two sections — a family afternoon event and an evening DogTail cocktail party. If you feel your dog has the ‘waggiest tail’, is the ‘perkiest pooch’, or is the ‘best bit of ruff’ on offer, then why not enter them into one of the afternoon event’s dog show classes to win a prize? If your pooch is less ‘pedigree’ and more ‘roll in random piles of poo’ then there will also be a host of relaxed afternoon doggy games on offer organised by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

In the evening, things get glamorous with DogTail cocktails being served from 7pm, alongside canapés provided by Absolute Taste. The opportunities to win prizes continue as the ‘most elegant dog’ will be crowned, as will ‘best six legs’, which we think is a competition for the best dog/owner partnership as opposed to the most attractive bee/cockroach/moth in attendance.

Dog Day is held in aid of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, the UK’s premiere dog and cat rehoming centre, and Canine Partners, which trains Assistance Dogs for people with disabilities, so it also helps some brilliant canine (and feline) causes.

Dog Day takes place Wednesday 3 July 4-6pm (afternoon event) and 7-9pm (evening event) on The Green by the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour. Tickets cost £10+bf and your ticket gives you entry to both events.
