Ever wanted to wander into fetish club Torture Garden, but have allergies to both latex and disapproval from others? Then embrace the socially acceptable thrill of sequins, feathers and dapper suits as Dark Circus Party sees the creators of Torture Garden joining (dark) forces Bourne & Hollingsworth for an evening of decedent cocktails and memorable theatrical performances. It’s this Saturday 15 June at Bloomsbury Ballroom.
With a subversive circus theme throughout, patrons will venture into a velvet-draped big top, crammed with dancing, sword swallowing, burlesque, and an avant-garde pop marching band. There’s even an educational slant on the proceedings, with the chance to learn a thing or two about costume make up, if you happen to seek out Miss Marguerite’s painted wagon.
The music will be equally eclectic, blending electro-swing, circus burlesque, kabaret, ballroom blitz and big top party mash-ups.
‘Whatever will I wear?’, you ask yourself. Well, the dress code* is billed as ‘Vintage, glamour & fantasy with a dark circus twist’ – and very strict, so you have been warned.
Oh and you’ve only got till the weekend – so rummage through your box reserved for the Rocky Horror Picture Show and start throwing a little something together.
