Anyone who's ever been tempted to pinch one of London's more famous signposts will have the opportunity to buy them at auction instead.
Westminster council are selling off 362 signposts, including ones for Abbey Road, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. The prices range from a snip at £20 to the rather more exclusive £1,000.
Perhaps, one day, the City of London will follow suit and Londonist can finally become the proud owners of Cock Lane and Back Passage.
If you want to buy your very own London road sign, the auction takes place at Summers Places Auctions in Billingshurst, West Sussex, on 21 May.
