Sssshhh! Yamaha Music London Present Silent June In Soho

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Yamaha Music London - Chappell.

If you've yearned to learn or practise an instrument but don't want to annoy your house-mates or neighbours, there's a new way you can play. Yamaha's silent instrument series has been awarded the prestigious Quiet Mark by the Noise Abatement Society in recognition of the amazing technology that turns performance quality instruments silent for practise.

Electronic keyboards and digital pianos have for years featured a headphone socket for silent practice. But Yamaha also make acoustic pianos, guitars, cellos, violins, violas and adapters for trumpets and other brass instruments which give you the same option. Bands and ensembles can even practice together with these instruments.

Can't believe your ears? Well, you need to see it (and not hear it). Throughout June, Yamaha Music London hosts a series of free concerts and events in Soho to introduce you to the silent revolution:

Saturday 8 June: watch the Street-Nelms Jazz Quintet and the classical Abraxas Ensemble play at the same time in the same room and choose which one you want to listen to... then switch to the other one! They're playing on the hour between 12-4pm and downstairs, experts will be showcasing silent drum kits and guitars on the ground floor so don't be shy, give them a try.

Saturday 15 June: join Bert Smorenburg, Yamaha's top international artist demonstrator, exploring the technology that makes acoustic instruments silent and watch one of his highly entertaining performances, demonstrating the capabilities of the silent piano.

Saturday 22 June: If you missed the first silent band play-off sessions, drop in today where Street-Nelms Jazz Quintet and the Abraxas Ensemble will again be playing on the hour from 12 noon till 4pm and don't miss the opportunity to try the instruments yourself and talk to the experts.

These events are all free and drop-in. Even if you have no desire to pick up an instrument yourself, it's a great opportunity to see this technology at work, explore the shop and meet some top flight musicians. Like Bert, look.

Experience Silent June at Yamaha Music London - Chappell on Saturday 8, 15 and 22 June. All events, demonstrations and performances are FREE, just turn up and walk in to 152-160 Wardour Street, Soho, W1F 8YA.
