Not many musicians can still put on a performance at the age of 85, but then not many musicians have the awesome god-like status of Burt Bacharach. His list of compositions (often with Hal David) includes Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Walk On By, Magic Moments, I Say A Little Prayer, and dozens of other pop standards.
The maestro is set to play two concerts at the Southbank Centre this summer. The 26 June gig is all-but-sold-out, but there's still plenty of space at the 7 July concert. Bacharach will also visit Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bournemouth in a tour to coincide with his memoirs and a new six CD boxset, spanning over half a century of hit-making. Tickets to the shows range from £30 to £75.
