Ticket Alert: We Are Scientists, The Cat Empire And More

There are lots of gigs on sale this week, so here's a selection of the best. Tickets to all of them should be available from 9am Friday, except where stated.

Ironic indie scenesters We Are Scientists (pictured) seem to have moved towards a rockier sound in recent months. With a new album rumoured to be arriving later this year, they've announced a small show at XOYO on 25 July. Tickets £15 + bf.

Latin-influenced ska-jazz-rock group The Cat Empire have built a loyal fanbase in London. Tumultuous, uplifting shows are the norm from this Australian band. See them at O2 Academy Brixton on 20 October. Tickets £25 + bf.

The Big Noise Festival is a 14-hour event showcasing the best of emerging music, DJs, funk, indie, grunge, afro beats, acoustic, spoken word and more. A bit of everything, basically, all in aid of the Big Issue Foundation. It happens at The Bussey Building in Peckham on 8 June. Tickets £8, available now.

Classic rock legend Peter Frampton comes to the Roundhouse on 5 November. Expect to hear material from across his expansive back catalogue. Tickets £30 + bf.

Mott the Hoople have roots in a similar era, but their triumphant 2009 reunion showed that frontman Ian Hunter can still put on quite a performance, despite being past his 70th birthday. You can see them at The O2 on 18 November. Tickets £45 + bf.

Also booking this week: Tom Odell, Shed Seven, Leann Rimes and Glasvegas, plus the last gigs at Kentish Town's Bull and Gate, including Goldheart Assembly and Ed Harcourt.
