The space between the stars was a successful and highly popular group show, so it's no surprise that one of the featured artists is getting his own solo show at Scream London.
Chris Bracey works in eye-catching neon to create bold works filled with energy. Neon is not a new medium for Bracey or his family — his father created lights for carnivals and amusement parks. The artist himself started off creating signs for Soho bars, clubs and tattoo parlours before moving into set design in the film industry. This transition opened up a natural move into commercial art, which has proven to be a successful segue.
This latest exhibition has a religious slant to it but is also autobiographical, charting his rise from humble beginnings of designing signs to becoming a fully fledged commercial artist. The mix of religious iconography and neon should make for some powerful imagery and radical contrasts.
There's no doubt that his work will divide people between those who find it garish and over the top, to those who revel in the infectious energy. But we're looking forward to his latest works and once open it'll be hard to walk past the gallery without being drawn in by the alluring lights.
