Wilton’s Music Hall Launches An App And A Shop

In the last couple of weeks, Wilton’s Music Hall has launched two money-making schemes to support the on-going Capital Project to stabilise the much-loved East End building.

Last week, Wilton’s opened a shop. The cutely titled “Cabinet of Curiosities” is hosted inside the Music Hall in Graces Alley, and sells a variety of treasures carefully commissioned from local makers, craftsmen, and jewellers who have been inspired by Wilton’s. Curated by Cynthia Grant, a local jeweller and artisan, there’s work on sale by Lucie Gledhill, Julie Arkell, Savage and Chong, and Treasures from the Grand Palais. Look out for Lucie’s barley-twist pendant and pin (pictured above), designed to reflect Wilton’s unique barley-twist columns. The shop is open from Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 9pm. If you prefer to shop online, you can buy some of the products from wiltons.org.uk.

Yesterday, Wilton’s launched an app (priced £1.49) in another fund-raising development. The brainchild of Filippo De Capitani, the Technical Manager at Wilton’s, the game is based on a true story from the building’s fascinating past. Play, and you’ll discover lost rooms and forgotten secrets, as well as unlocking hidden floors and doors to release Wilton’s mysterious past.

Last summer, Wilton’s was awarded a Round 1 Pass from the Heritage Lottery fund of £1.6 million towards the final phase of their Capital Appeal, which is £2.2 million. They only have £300,000 left to raise: if you’re looking for a creative way to donate to the cause, maybe one of these two innovative schemes will pique your interest.

Wilton’s Music Hall is at Graces Alley, off Ensign Street, Tower Hamlets, London, E1 8JB. To find out more, visit wiltons.org.uk.
