Londonist and London Transport Museum are proud to launch a new photo challenge as part of the LTM exhibition PosterArt150 and 150th anniversary of London Underground. Taking inspiration from the themes of PosterArt150, we challenge you to enter one or both stages of this photography project which reflects the unique and different aspects of London and what we love about this great city.
For this first stage, your brief is "away from it all".
In the early days of London Underground, posters were used to encourage Londonders to escape the urban and use the tube to inspect the burgeoning leafy suburbs, visit the nearby countryside and indulge in outdoor pursuits. As our map of London's lesser know green patches shows, there are plenty of places to find rural retreats within the city too. Where do you love to get away from it all?
Photos must be taken in 2013, the year of the Tube 150 celebrations, but we don't mind what you take them with. We highly recommend you visit the exhibition and explore the theme in more detail. Here's our review of the show (it's good).
The competition is open now and you have until 30 April to submit your photos. Fifty shortlisted images will go on show on the Museum's Flickrwall, three photographers will be commended and one person will singled out for a special prize, which includes a trip in the driver's cabin of a London Tube.
Join the Away From It All Flickrpool to find out how to enter and for full terms and conditions.
Good luck!
