Barclays Front Row at the Donmar means you could see Trelawny of the Wells for just £10 a seat if you’re on the ball next Monday.
Arthur Wing Pinero’s classic “love letter to the theatre” is directed by Joe Wright – he of Anna Karenina, Atonement and Pride and Prejudice film fame – and includes “some most respectful additions and ornamentation” by Patrick Marber for this production. But what’s it all about?
Rose Trelawny is the brightest star in the firmament of the Wells, the theatre company that raised her from birth. But she’s prepared to give it all up for the love of her stage door suitor, aristocratic Arthur. His family are less convinced of her charms, however, and her joyful challenge to their dreary, snobby existence shocks them to their core.
This is a celebration of the enchantment, the vivaciousness, the melodrama, the music and the irrepressible joy of the Victorian stage.
To see Trelawny of the Wells from front row stalls or circle seats for just £10 be ready on Monday at 10am when the Donmar release the final Barclays Front Row tickets for this production. Standing tickets are also released daily in person at the box office.
