Soerditch, as it used to be known, got its name from the fact that it was a 'sour ditch that issued into the Thames'. Since then Shoreditch's name has evolved and it's become a home for emerging artists, technology companies and hipsters aplenty.

Adam Dant has created 125 drawings reflecting the goings on in the area around his studio, in a satirical style akin to newspaper cartoonists. Dant's work has a great sense of humour and visitors will be able to identify with the drawing where a gathering crowd wonders whether a naked man asleep in a gazebo is a work of art. Incidentally, a naked man sat on a bench was a work of art in a show at the Hayward Gallery in 2011, so it's not as far fetched as it seems.

This should be a fitting and humorous tribute to what Shoreditch has now become and it's almost guaranteed to make you smile.

Soerditch - Diary of a Neighbourhood is on at Eleven Spitalfields Gallery, 11 Princelet Street, E1 6QH from 8 March to 26 April. Admission is free.
