Musical Preview: The Tailor-Made Man @ Arts Theatre

The Tailor-Made Man is a new musical set during the 1930s and based on the true story of William ‘Billy’ Haines, the silent screen star who was fired by MGM Studios because he was gay and refused to marry and give up his lifelong partner Jimmy Shields. A powerful tale about Hollywood and its system and hypocrisy, The Tailor-Made Man is above all the story of a passionate love affair that triumphed against convention.

The musical has a star-studded cast including Faye Tozer, Dylan Turner and Mike McShane. A member of Brit award-winning pop group Steps, Tozer has also performed in musicals including Tell Me on a Sunday and Love Shack. She states: "It was a childhood dream to be a Hollywood movie star so I'm thrilled to be in Tailor-Made Man!" Turner’s West End theatre includes Chariots of Fire, Rock of Ages, Mamma Mia! and Grease, as well as the UK tours of Chicago and Footloose. American actor, singer and improvisational comedian McShane has performed in British TV shows including Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Seinfeld.

Directed by Claudio Macor with designs by Sophia Simensky and choreography by Nathan M Wright, The Tailor-Made Man previews at the Arts Theatre from 14 February.

Tickets for the Tailor-Made Man, priced £10-£49.50, are available here.
