London 2013 Triathlon Event Will Race Olympic Course

One of the enduring images of London 2012 was the triathlon. A nation transfixed by two Yorkshire brothers, typing "what the ACTUAL HELL are these guy machines?" into various social media.

Plus the course, around Hyde Park and cycling past Buckingham Palace, looked amazing. So it's a with a bit of a thrill that we found out the London 2013 triathlon event 11-15 September will use that same course, even for the open entry group. Yes, that means anyone can put themselves forward for a couple of hours of bodily torture. There are two distance options priced at slightly different fees; note that you're not guaranteed to get a place, but the ballot opened today and closes at midnight on 5 March.

The Brownlee brothers will be back to contest the elite race, plus there'll be a big opening ceremony in Trafalgar Square. If you don't feel like taking part, work out your spectator spot now.
