This is a sponsored post on behalf of Walk London.

Walk London's free weekend of Winter Wanders returns at the end of the month with 34 different led walks on offer. From 11 mile hikes to 2 hour jaunts, there's something for everyone, right across the capital.

Here are some picks for those who like a long ramble.

Saturday 26 January

THE GLORIOUS LONDON LOOP: Take a rural walk through beautiful Surrey countryside. The entire London Loop is almost 152 miles but this section from Banstead to Kingston offers you 9 mile or 11 mile options — make your mind up during the one hour stop for a pub lunch. Starts 10.30am.

WALKING ON WATER: Explore the glorious Lea Valley with a 6 mile route on the River Lea Path from Tottenham Hale to Limehouse. Pass through Walthamstow Marshes, Middlesex Filter Beds (nature reserve), Hackney Marshes and the Olympic Park. Starts 11am.

LEGACY OF THE GAMES: Cheating slightly on the walking front, this one starts with a ferry trip across the Thames from Woolwich Arsenal to the Royal Docks where you'll walk about 5 miles round the Lower Lea Valley, taking in Beckton Park, the Greenway and Three Mills. Starts 11am.

SEAFARING LONDON: Stretch your legs along 6.5 miles of the Thames Path from Tower Bridge to Greenwich. Starts at 12 noon.

BEST LANDSCAPES & VIEWS: Be surprised by the perspectives along this 7 mile walk from Charlton to Plumstead, rising from sea level to almost the highest points in London. Bring binoculars and a packed lunch. Starts 12 noon.

Sunday 27 January

A CATHEDRAL OF STEAM: This special walk along the Thames Path from Abbey Wood to Woolwich Arsenal includes an exclusive visit to Crossness Pumping Station. Look out for a terrific sunset along the way. Dress warm and take a packed lunch. The walk is free but you must book as numbers are limited. Starts 12 noon.

JUBILYMPICS: This 5 miles route from Angel to Hackney Wick is part of a new walk designed to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Follow the Regents Canal to Victoria Park and the Olympic Park. Starts 1.30pm.

Next week, we'll take look at some of shorter walks on offer.

Winter Wanders take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January. Like Walk London on Facebook for updates or visit Walk London online for more information.
