Preview: The Will Gompertz Fringe @ The ICA

Distinctive pate, avian gait, thick-rimmed specs that you love to hate...the BBC's arts editor Will Gompertz is something of a cult hero. So arty is Mr Gompertz that he might be considered the Tenth Muse, inspiring us to that opening rhyme and the iPad doodle to the right. We're therefore cheered to hear that the ICA is putting on an event hosted by and named after the bespectacled critic.

The Will Gompertz Fringe, debuting on 1 February, is described as "Latitude, Hay, Glastonbury and Edinburgh Fringe boiled down into one intense and intoxicating 90-minute event". The set up sounds a bit like a Jools Holland Hootenanny, with various small stages given over to comedians, musicians, artists, film-makers and literary types. Confirmed acts include Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Mat Collishaw, David Batchelor and Johnny Woo.

The show runs on 1, 8 and 15 February, themed respectively around Icons, Money and Colour. Tickets are £10 (general), £8 (concessions) and £7 (members), available here.
