London Stand Up And Sketch Comedy: 13-19 January

Where to find funny this week

Sunday 13 January: Surrealist genius Tony Law headlines at Sunday Special in Greenwich, with excellent support from Joe Lycett, Matt Forde and Ed Gamble (7.30pm, £6 / £4).

Monday 14 January: There are two fabulous charity gigs at Bloomsbury Theatre this week. The first is Stand Up For Women in support of Eaves, which works to eliminate violence against women. James Mullinger introduces Shappi Khorsandi, Isy Suttie, Shazia Mirza, Bridget Christie, Sara Pascoe, Ed Aczel, Robin Ince, Holly Walsh and more (7.30pm, £15 / £12.50).

Tuesday 15 January: Laugh – but don’t heckle – at politics and other thoughtful comedy with Lolitics at Camden’s Black Heart. Chris Coltrane hosts, with Bridget Christie, John-Luke Roberts, Jessica Fostekew, Grainne Maguire, Robin & Partridge plus Rob Newman trying out new material (8.30pm, £3).

Wednesday 16 January: New sketch group Tasty Combo are doing their debut show at the Horse in Lambeth (8pm, £5). Get a choice morsel with the video below.

Thursday 17 January: Anything could happen when you see Nick Sun and his dark, stream of consciousness, inhibition-free, mesmerising comedy. He’s working up a new show about a professional suicide hotline florist at the Soho Theatre until Saturday (7.15pm, £10).

Friday 18 January: The week’s second Bloomsbury fundraiser, Sex Appeal II in aid of sexual health charity Brook, is (we hear) almost sold out. Organised by Zoe Margolis and hosted by Al Murray, the line-up also includes Doc Brown, Richard Herring, Festival of the Spoken Nerd, Josie Long, Ava Vidal, Ben Miller and more (7pm, £25).

If you don’t get in quick enough at the Bloomsbury, how about following Daniel Kitson’s recommendation and catching legendary ‘firework up the arse’ comic Chris Lynam at The Hob (8pm).

Saturday 19 January: An evening with Rob Rouse, Dan Antopolski, Matthew Osborne and Quincy is a fine way to round off the week at Banana Cabaret (9pm, £16).
