Six top writers from the Low Countries will tour six UK cities (ending in London) on six consecutive nights to showcase literature from Flanders and the Netherlands in English translation.
The writers on tour are the literati of the Low Countries, all prize-winners and best-sellers in their respective homes of either Belgium or Holland and all writing in Dutch. They include Ramsey Nasr, the Dutch poet laureate; Peter Terrin, winner of the prestigious AKO Literature Prize; Chika Unigwe, poet, short story writer and award-winning novelist of On Black Sisters’ Street (Vintage, 2009); and Herman Koch, best-selling novelist (in both the Netherlands and around the world) of The Dinner (Atlantic, 2012).
In a unique collaboration, these six authors (selected not only for their brilliant writing but also for their wit, wisdom, fluent English and performance skills) will share the stage with readings, ideas and debates, each night on a different theme. For their final gala gathering in London they will be joined by English writers such as Deborah Moggach, David Mitchell and Tracy Chevalier who themselves have written on Dutch themes.
