Free & Cheap London Events: 14-20 January

Things to do for a fiver or less this week.

Monday 14 January:

YOGA: Resolved to try it this year? The London Yoga Collective offer your first class free (£10 drop-in thereafter) at Tanner Street Studios, SE1. Class starts 6.30pm.

Tuesday 15 January:

BLAKE: Go to a talk and poetry performance about Some Firm Conviction: Blake & The Everlasting Gospel at City of Westminster Archives thanks to the Blake Society. You might have to sit through their AGM first though. Entry is free, just turn up for 6.30pm.

Wednesday 16 January:

TV: Totally Serialized celebrates the best TV serials at Ciné Lumière at Institut Francais in South Kensington (pictured). Tonight, join a panel discussion on TV writing, tickets £5/£3 concs. Starts 6pm.

Thursday 17 January:

BEST TITLE FOR A TALK SO FAR THIS YEAR: Incest and Folk-Dancing: Two things to be avoided is a Gresham College lecture at Barnard's Inn Hall. Free, just turn up, starts 6pm.

Friday 18 January:

MIDDLE AGES: Taking retro to an extreme, there's a medieval themed comedy night at Cabarera at The Horse, Westminster Bridge Road. Tickets £5 or £4 if you go in period dress. Starts 7.30pm.

Saturday 19 January:

DEATH: Watch films about Death at Wellcome Collection. Free but prebook, from 11am to 7.45pm.

GUNS: Get down to Firepower, the Royal Artillery Museum in Woolwich to witness re-enactors firing a authentic World War Two 2-Pounder Anti-Tank Gun three times. Free, just turn up between 11am and 4pm.

FUNNY TELLY: There's a free comedy marathon at Cine Lumiere as part of Totally Serialized. Free but prebook, starts 2pm.

WASSAIL: Toast the Trees at the Rotherhithe Wassail at the Brunel Museum Roof Garden. Tickets £5 advance and include a cocktail from the Midnight Apothecary. From 6.30pm.

MUSIC HALL: The 'people's pensioner' Ida Barr celebrates music hall traditions and presents her own brand of "artifical hip hop" in the foyer spaces of the Royal Festival Hall. Free, just turn up from 10pm.

Sunday 20 January:

WASSAIL: Join the Wassailing ceremony at Forty Hall Farm. Free, just turn up - especially if you're interested in volunteering at the farm. Probably between 2-4pm - keep an eye on Facebook for confirmation.
