Film Preview: Rooftop Film Club @ Kensington Roof Gardens

Given up alcohol in a fit of cliché for January? Better head to the cinema instead of the pub, then. But if your local multiplex doesn’t tempt you, we’d like to recommend an evening at the Rooftop Film Club chez Kensington Roof Gardens as a way to gently ease you into the calendar of cultural highs for 2013.

Running from Monday to Thursday next week (7-10 Jan), their January season is full of crowd-pleasers. Take your pick from Top Gun, The Goonies, Back to the Future, The Artist, Drive and more. Alas, most of the sexy sofa seating is sold out; but for £20, you can still watch top flicks on top of Kensington High Street, with a free glass of something tasty (Champers, Peroni, or a suitably restrained soft drink) plus a warming treat from barbecue. And if you’re wondering about the weather, all films are shown inside a heated marquee in the Tudor Gardens, so you won’t get cold (or wet).

The Rooftop Film Club runs from 7 to 10 January at the Kensington Roof Gardens, 99 Kensington High Street, London, W8 5SA. Tickets cost around £20. Visit rooftopfilmclub.com to find out more.
