With the Mayan prophecy, and the conveniently tangible date of 21 December almost upon us, The Last Supper Club takes inspiration from doomsday tales. Predictions of Eastern and Western cultures come together to inspire a two-week run of experimental dining, with not one, but three concept menus.
The project, a venture by Young British Foodie Award Winners Platterform and The Halo Group creative agency, will take residence in The Yard, Shoreditch and will feature a ‘bespoke set design’, a journey into a ‘Lost World’ where you can prop up The Doom Bar, visit The Confession Booth or book yourself in for a three-course dinner at The Ark in advance. Don’t fancy stuffing yourself silly but still want to soak up the apocalyptic atmosphere? Salvation street food, including Falafel Wrapture and Feed the 5000 slider, will be available for those who want to keep it casual.
Head Chef at Kensington Roof Gardens, Bonito Daniels, will be working some Middle Eastern magic with The Salvation Menu (6-9 Dec), while Luis Michel, Head Chef at Liverpool’s Lucha Libre oversees the Mayan Prophets Feast (11-16 Dec). Given the roaring trend for all things meaty, the barbecue-heavy Doom’s Day Diner (18-21 Dec and presided by the aptly named Head Chef DJ BBQ), which boasts a custom-built 4m-long smoker, promises to be a smoking hot night of indulgence.
Ok, it might not actually be the end of the world, but it’s a great excuse to party. Just make sure you’ve got a spectacular plan B if you get carried away and tell your boss to stick his job, max out your credit card or propose to your best friend’s partner. Or all three.
