Pig’s Ear Beer and Cider Festival

Now in its 29th year, this week’s Camra-organised Pig’s Ear festival in Hackney, should be a particularly good one. Breweries such as Crate, Beavertown and London Fields have been springing up all over Hackney, meaning that the focus of this five day festival will firmly be on local brews.

Alongside the Hackney beers, there will be offerings from other favourite London breweries such as Redemption and East London Brewery. Over 200 beers from 90 different breweries will be on offer, with a wide selection coming from breweries outside the capital.

The festival’s name comes from the cockney rhyming slang for beer but there are other treats on offer too, including cider from London Glider, which is the capital’s only commercial cider producer. There will also be numerous tasty food stalls.

Pig’s Ear is a not-to-be missed event for any London beer lover. It’s great value too, costing only £2 for Camra members and £4 for non-members.

You can find our write-up of last year's event here.

The Pig’s Ear Beer and Cider Festival is at The Round Chapel, Powerscroft Road, Hackney E5 0PU, from Tuesday 4 to Saturday 8 December. Opening times Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday noon- 11pm and Friday, noon to 11.30pm.
