Kraftwerk Fans Crash Tate Modern Ticket Site

The much anticipated Kraftwerk gigs at Tate Modern proved so popular that this morning's ticket frenzy crashed the gallery's servers.

The German electro-group, best known in Britain for their 1981 hit 'The Model', are planning a series of eight concerts at Tate Modern in February. Each gig will see the group play the entire track listing of one of their albums.

Frustrated customers tried repeatedly phoning (for consumer products now and then?) or refreshing the booking page, but many reported difficulties. The website later carried the message: "Kraftwerk at Tate Modern has just gone on sale and we are experiencing a phenomenal demand for tickets which is affecting our web server."

One Londonist writer was among the unsuccessful, and tells us he's: "since spent the money on new RAM for my computer, which is probably what Kraftwerk would have wanted."
