Random London Fact of the Day
At least two high-profile London buildings carry the scars of IRA attacks. A splinter from the 1991 mortar attack on 10 Downing Street remains embedded in the plasterwork on the first floor. Meanwhile, a sliver of glass from a bombing has been left in the wall of the Old Bailey extension, in the City. We gleaned these two nuggets from the excellent new book London Hidden Interiors, which we'll be reviewing on the site later on.

Secret Hidden False Rumour of the Day
The BT Tower was originally twice its current height. Unexpected torque generated by the rotating restaurant has screwed the tower deep into the ground. Engineers estimate that the tower will slip below the roofline in about 55 years.
