Video: The London Overground Extension To Clapham Junction

On 9 December the London Overground extension from Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction opens, completing the long-promised outer orbital railway. To mark the occasion Transport for London has released this promotional video, accompanied by a saccharine musical score, featuring a sped-up view from the driver's cab along the new route (part of which we walked along last year) and highlighting the new stops at Peckham Rye Wandsworth and Clapham, which will be linked to Shoreditch and Dalston along what we like to think will be called the Hipster's Curve.

If you want to experience the complete, 40-minute Dalston Junction - Clapham Junction journey in real time, Ian Visits has posted a driver's eye video of the preview ride that Londonist also attended earlier this week. Diamond Geezer has also written about the completion of London Overground and the work to integrate the new terminus at Clapham Junction.

If you fancy being among the earliest to complete the loop around London, the first train along the route departs from Clapham Junction at 07.20am on 9 December. If you're travelling southwards, then the first train leaves at 07.11 from Highbury & Islington.
