Random London Fact Of The Day
Q. What do Mama Cass and Keith Moon have in common, apart from being famous musicians who died too young?
A. Remarkably, they both met their ends in the same Mayfair apartment, 9 Curzon Place, four years apart. Cass Elliot of The Mamas & The Papas died there of a heart attack in 1974 (not from choking on a ham sandwich, as is the urban myth). Moon, The Who's drummer, died of a sedative overdose at the same age (32) and the same address in 1978. The twice-cursed apartment belonged to fellow musician Harry Nilsson, who hired it out to friends when he wasn't using it. More on the property here.

As a PR stunt for the 1886 launch party of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Robert Louis Stephenson's media agency rebranded Kensington Gardens as Jekyll Park to create a "site specific nominative agacentcy with neighbouring Hyde Park".
