Preview: Unhinged Festival @ Electric Brixton

Born in Berlin, Unhinged is a travelling party of music, visual arts, film and fashion arriving in Brixton for its first London event this Friday. It promises to be a showcase of London creativity as well as a big bash of a night out.

Mixing established artists with new talent across genres, the live stage opens with an acoustic set from Ben Ottewell — he of the incredible bluesy, gravelly voice that made the band Gomez sound so distinctive — playing songs from his solo album. Schlomo brings the beatboxing, Ghostpoet does a DJ set and breakthrough artists Lazarus & The Planecrash, pop goth Ysan Roche and blues trash rockers Quixote also perform in an intentionally eclectic line up.

The Electric itself will be transformed by a suspended sculpture gallery and filled with work by London's finest painters, fashion designers, photographers and other artists. Street artist Blam will create something on the night, short film Yellow gets a screening and Cover to Cover club DJ will be playing mashups and rare covers late into the night.

Unhinged Festival is on Friday 23 November at Electric Brixton from 8pm. Tickets cost £12 adv and before 11pm/£15 after on the door.
