North London Bus Strikes Underway

The 24 hour strike by Arriva bus drivers is underway in north London, leading to disruption on up to 50 routes.

Some routes into central London, including the 29, 38, 73, 149 and 243 are affected as well as north London routes — TfL advise checking their live travel news before travelling. The full list of routes disrupted is here:

29, 34, 38, 41, 73, 76, 78, 102, 121, 123, 125, 128, 135, 141, 144, 149, 150, 168, 173, 184, 192, 221, 242, 243, 253, 254, 279, 307, 313, 317, 318, 325, 327, 329, 341, 349, 377, 379, 382, 393, 397, 444, 491, 617, 647, 657, 678, W3, W6 and W11.

The 102, 128, 149, 242, 243, 341, N29, N38, N41, N73, N76, N253 and N279 routes are also expected to be delayed or cancelled later tonight and tomorrow.

The strike, being held by members of the Unite union, is centred around a decision by Arriva not to award pay increases despite claims that they have made 'millions of pounds in profit' this year.

Tube workers belonging to ASLEF were also recently balloted for strike action on Boxing Day. Blogger ASLEF Shrugged explains the dispute in more detail.
