Thousands of people wait for hours in the cold, to cheer on a banker dressed in extremely expensive clothing, as he processes through town in a golden coach. Welcome to the strange world of the Lord Mayor's Show, where banker-bashing sentiment is put on hold for the sake of one of the country's oldest traditions.
685th Lord Mayor Roger Gifford proved as popular as his predecessors as crowds four-deep lined the streets of the City. As usual, a parade of people connected to the City accompanied him — from former soldiers to school groups to livery companies.
