The Howard de Walden Estate and Thompson's Gallery are both proud residents of Marylebone so when they teamed up for the second year running to offer an arts prize, there was no surprise about the criteria. Thirty artists were invited to capture the daily life of Marylebone, and they've produced diverse results from a relaxed church fair through to a pulsating match at Lord's cricket ground.
The variety is to be expected as Marylebone covers a wide area from local sports in Regent's Park through to the eclectic shops of Marylebone High Street. All of the artists have represented the area in their signature styles so the exhibition should provide something for everyone's tastes.
The winner of the prize will be announced on the opening night, but in the meantime potential visitors can browse through the exhibition catalogue.
The Howard de Walden Art Prize 2012: A View of Marylebone is on display at Thompson's Gallery, 15 New Cavendish Street, W1G 9UB from 27 November to 22 December. Entrance is free.
