The pop-up cinema scene moves into a seasonally induced torpor, as the autumnal weather sets in and outdoor screens go into hibernation. Now it's the turn of London's warehouses, shops and pub function rooms to flicker to the light of the projector bulb.
The Underground Picturehouse returns to the basement of the Water Poet in Spitalfields. Its autumn programme features five films following famous musicians:
- 17 October: Stop Making Sense, 1984. The famous documentary following Talking Heads on tour.
- 10 November: Sign O The Times — Prince, 1987. See the artist formerly whatevered as whomever at the height of his powers, in this documentary written, directed, performed and most definitely feem-tuned by Prince.
- 14 November: 30 Century Man — Scott Walker, 2006. Documentary about the most prominent of the non-related Walker Brothers.
- 21 November: The Last Waltz, 1978. Martin Scorsese's backstage footage of The Band's farewell concert.
- 24 November: Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars, 1973. Bowie's final concert as his alter-ego.
All screenings begin at 8pm (doors 7.30pm). Tickets are £4.50 on the door or can be bought in advance.
