Given the austerity cuts, protests and social unrest we have seen over the past few years, the subjects covered in the film festival being run by Garden Court Chambers will undoubtedly resonate with many people.
Garden Court Chambers, one of the largest barristers’ chambers in the country, is founded on a firm commitment to human rights, social justice and equality. Throughout October and November, it hosts a Human Rights Film Festival to explore some of the issues involved in its work, including asylum and immigration, police misconduct, protest and direct action, homelessness and youth disenfranchisement.
Five out of the six films will be followed by panel discussions, with time for questions from the audience afterwards. Panellists will include barristers from the Chambers, as well as film directors and some of those who are impacted directly by the issues highlighted by each film.
