Heroes & Villains: Free Walks Led By Specialist Local Guides

Four free walks will "sort the heroic from the horrific" in four London locales on Saturday.

Local London Guiding Day celebrates and shows off the specialist skills of guides who have an in-depth knowledge of and true enthusiasm for their manor. All four associations award their members with a badge to confirm they are properly trained, qualified and insured — ie the best people to guide you in the area.

The theme of the day is Heroes and Villains and walks happen on the hour, every hour, in each location from 10am to 4pm. If you plan it right you'll be able to get round all of them in one day. Here's who's doing what where:

City Guides show you City Worthies and Unworthies, starting from the Royal Exchange (exit 3 Bank station).

Clerkenwell & Islington Guides unearth Writers, Rulers and Revolutionaries beginning from Farringdon Station.

Greenwich Tour Guides track Saints and Sinners in SE10, meeting at the Gate Clock pub next to Cutty Sark DLR Station.

Westminster Guides lead you to "arch to arch" on the trail of Arch Villains, setting off from... Marble Arch.

This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy and learn from professional guides on their home patch for free. These are walks aimed at Londoners so challenge your guide to show or tell you something you hadn't clocked before! No need to book, just turn up.

Local London Guiding Day is Saturday 13 October starting 10am - last walk 4pm.
