Frieze, Moniker, PAD And Other Art Fairs Hit Town

This weekend, art fairs take over London. The big one — Frieze London — has already received plenty of media attention, but it’s not the only one in town. Whether you’ve bought into the hype of Frieze, are looking for a more accessible alternative or want to fully immerse yourself in art this weekend, we’ve got a round-up of art fairs that should help:

Frieze and Frieze Masters
It’s the big one that takes over Regent’s Park once a year. Less an art fair, more an arts event. Frieze is known as the place for the world’s biggest galleries to showcase the artists who will be the next modern art superstars. This year, Frieze Masters is a new addition that allows galleries selling classical art to display alongside their contemporary counterparts.
Venue: Regent’s Park
Admission: £27 for Frieze, £35 for Frieze + Frieze Masters

Sunday Art Fair
Sunday is seen by many as the antithesis to Frieze — featuring 20 young emerging galleries from around the world and no prohibitive admission price. It’s also in one of our favourite exhibition spaces — the cavernous Ambika P3.
Venue: Ambika P3, 35 Marylebone Road, NW1 5LS
Admission: Free

PAD
PAD is yet another international gallery fair but this time with a wider focus incorporating art, design and decorative arts. It will be situated in Berkeley Square, right in the heart of Mayfair — home to hundreds of galleries.
Venue: Berkeley Square, W1
Admission: £20

Moniker Art Fair
The Shoreditch art scene has always seen itself as the edgier cousin of the Mayfair galleries, so it’s only right that they have a competing art fair this weekend — and Moniker is it.
Venue: Village Underground, 54 Holywell Lane, EC2A 3PQ
Admission: £10 for Thursday preview, free on all other days.

Moving Image
A much more niche art fair than the others, with all exhibitions consisting solely of contemporary video art. This is a genre that continues to grow and so has justified it’s own art fair.
Venue: Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, SE1 9PH
Admission: Free

Multiplied
This art fair specialises in contemporary prints, providing an opportunity for artists to sell their prints and editions to buyers with varying budgets.
Venue: Christie’s, 85 Old Brompton Road, SW7 3LD
Admission: Free

All of these art fairs run from 11-14 October with the exception of PAD, which opens a day earlier and Multiplied which runs from 12-15 October. Check websites for their opening times.
