Comedy Preview: Joking For Justice @ The Bloomsbury Theatre

The World Development Movement's annual comedy benefit gig, Joking for Justice, is back for a third year with a line-up that is better than ever.

Stalwart of the British comedy scene and Edinburgh veteran Richard Herring takes a break from touring his show Talking Cock the Second Coming and recording his much lauded Leicester Square Theatre podcasts (RHLSTP!) to head up a jam packed bill of comedy talent.

With eleven acts for just £23, you won't get much more bang for your buck in terms of comedy at another night. The laid-back and sophisticated Ava Vidal (whose show we reviewed here), rubs shoulders with Channel 4 regular Mark Dolan, the gritty and entertaining Francesca Martinez, satirist Andy Zaltzman and musical comic Vikki Stone amongst many others.

Whether you like political humour, comedy songs or just good old-fashioned silliness, there's something funny on this bill for you. Best of all, the gig is in aid of the World Development Movement, a campaigning organisation the challenges the policies and practices that keep the world's poorest people locked in poverty.

Full line-up: Richard Herring, Ava Vidal, Mark Dolan, Francesca Martinez, Andy Zaltzman, Dan Antopolski, Catie Wilkins, Paul Sinha, Hils Barker, Vikki Stone, Kent Valentine (MC).

Joking for Justice is at The Bloomsbury Theatre, 15 Gordon Street, London WC1H 0AH on 1 November at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £23.

N.B. The author works for the World Development Movement and is involved with organising and promoting this show with help from the wonderful Francesca Martinez.
