Dance Preview: Story Of A Night Pianist @ Trinity Buoy Wharf

There's a site-specific September treat in store for dance and live music fans as young choreographer Anna Buonomo's Story of a Night Pianist returns to Trinity Buoy Wharf tonight and this weekend. Originally created for Big Dance 2012 in May this year, the show takes the audience on a walking journey around the site of London's only lighthouse, animated by haunting figures.

The piece includes live music by composer Lorenzo Turchi-Floris, and is performed by a mass cast of 40 dance students and local residents. The narrative is inspired by a true story, says Buonomo, in which Turch-Floris began to feel a strange presence in the room when playing at night. Story of a Night Pianist explores those eerie feelings and enacts a narrative of jealousy and possession, set on the capital's riverside.

The work's first outing this summer was very successful, drawing hundreds of audience members down to the site in East London's Docklands and attracting positive reviews for its affecting choreography and ravishing musical score. Viewers should be aware that the piece is performed in the open air, so arrive early to get a good view and bring your walking boots and umbrella!

Performances are free (although donations are welcome), and take place tonight (Thursday 20 September), Friday 21 September 2012 and Sunday 23rd September 2012 at 7.30pm; there's also a Sunday matinee performance at 3pm. Venue: Trinity Buoy Wharf E14 0JW; nearest station East India DLR (stewards will direct viewers to the venue).
