Like his nursery rhyme ancestor, the grand old Duke of York marched to the top of something tall this morning. His march back down again was somewhat unorthodox.
These pictures from Sky News show Prince Andrew lowering himself from the top of the Shard and abseiling down from the 87th to the 20th floor. He was one of around 40 people making the descent in aid of The Outward Bound Trust and The Royal Marines Charitable Trust. It's not known if his mum signed his sponsorship form.
The Duke was joined by other notables, including Ffion Hague, wife of William Hague the Foreign Secretary. There's no word on whether William's father, Nigel Hague, was also among the group — the 83-year-old daredevil had previously declared his interest in abseiling from the Shard.
