Kicking and Screening, the film festival entirely devoted to the beautiful game, returns this week, with a series of footy-themed screenings at Everyman cinemas.
Friday’s opening night gala, with Arsenal legend Tony Adams introducing Fever Pitch on the book’s 20th anniversary, has unfortunately sold out. Tickets for all other screenings are still available at the time of writing, however, and highlights include:
- 30 September: Hero, biopic of Bobby Moore, and a fundraiser for the Bobby Moore Fund.
- 2 October: El Clasico, a group of students from Chico State University travel to Spain to understand the rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona. Followed by a panel discussion including Steve McManaman,Albert Ferrer,Guillem Balague,Jimmy Burns and the film’s directors.
- 3 October: The Anderson Monarchs, a documentary about a girl’s team in Philadelphia, introduced by Team GB’s Rachel Yankey & Eniola Aluko.
- 4 October: Premiere of The Beautiful Game, looking at African community football, introduced by Patrick Vieira.
