London Food & Drink News: September 7

The simian miscreants behind Monkey Shoulder whisky have come up with a novel way to market their hooch: they're running a series of one-off events, each set in a different "secret" location and themed around a different cocktail. Expect unusual takes on classic cocktails and other highjinks (for the launch event, visitors dressed up as New York taxi cabs and drank Manhattans). For One Night Only runs every Friday night until November 14th.

Tickets are on sale for Ginstock and Rumstock next weekend. A £26 ticket will get you eight cocktails, while the hardy can risk permanent liver damage with a £45 weekend pass. They take place on 15 and 16 September, and are part of Fifteen Street, a street food party celebrating the British Street Food Awards. Tickets to Fifteen Street alone are £4.

Speaking of mother's ruin, the London Gin Club has launched its own small batch gin. Called 7 Dials, the tipple apparently "delivers a double cream softness finished with tones of almond and sweet clementine". We've seen phone booth calling cards that offer similar.

Tickets are still available for this weekend's Mercedes Drive Thru at the Old Selfridges Hotel, organised by Bompas & Parr.

The Waterloo Food Festival began this week and runs until the end of September. Highlights include butchery demonstrations, a cake decorating event, an Indian summer barbecue and a Latin street party.

A couple of new openings to make note of if you're trying to impress a date: opening Monday at the Tower of London is the Perkin Reveller, a medieval-themed restaurant and bar, while new cocktail bar and pizzeria B-Soho has opened on Poland Street, W1.

Finally, Saturday is the last day for the Pitt Cue trailer beneath the Hungerford Bridge. Fans of their pulled pork and cocktails can still find them at their Soho restaurant.
