Dickens And Excellence Talk & GOSH Dickens Day

After a summer packed with sport and spectacle, you could be forgiven for having forgotten it's Charles Dickens' bicentenary year too.

Tomorrow, you can dose up on Dickens with a talk about the writer's desire to achieve excellence in all aspects of his life given by Dickens expert, admirer and impersonator, Christopher West.

Chris runs regular talks and events about Dickens but after a recent experience of the special care and expertise at Great Ormond Street when his granddaughter needed medical attention, he resolved to do something to raise money for the children's hospital.

Fortunately, Dickens has history with GOSH having played a great part in helping the hospital to grow and thrive, and so GOSH Dickens Day was conceived.

The family fun day will feature music and performance from local schools, a Dickensian Christmas Fayre, talks, films and exhibitions and of course, the man himself - that is, Chris in his Dickens guise.

Save the date and spread the word: GOSH Dickens Day happens at the Royal Society of Medicine on Sunday 25 November.

If you're interested in volunteering to help make Dickens Day a success, or want to enquire about having a stall or performing at the event please get in touch with Chris through his website, or go along to the talk tomorrow. The Charles Dickens and Excellence talk takes place on Tuesday 4 September 4.30-6pm at The George on the Strand. Tickets £7/£5.
