Brent Cross Interchange Flooded By Burst Main

The North Circular near Brent Cross currently resembles a canal, thanks to a burst water main. The road has been closed all day in both directions following a breach in a 24-inch main this morning. Around 1,600 homes in the area are without water, and a potential 16,000 customers could be affected. The Standard reckons the flood caused traffic tailbacks of 10 miles.

Thames Water estimates that it could take two days to fix, and a week for new concrete to dry. The company are confident, however, that part of the eastbound carriage can be reopened today. More at the BBC. Image via The Times, uncredited.
