Pop art and the days of Warhol, Lichtenstein and Johns may feel long gone but Alex Katz was a big name then and yet still continues to create new works today. He's renowned for his portraiture, yet his style of simple forms and bold colours is present in all of his paintings. It is also reflected in the works of other contemporary artists such as Julian Opie.

In his latest exhibition, there'll be plenty of his large scale signature portraiture pieces like the ones which gained him many fans when he exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in 2010. But Katz has also created many large- and small-scale works focussing on flowers. Will his minimalist style translate well to this new subject matter?

With a career spanning nearly 60 years, over 200 solo exhibitions and an aesthetically appealing style, there's no question that this show will be a big draw both for fans and newcomers alike.

Alex Katz is on display at the Timothy Taylor Gallery, 15 Carlos Place, W1K 2EX until 5 October. Entrance is free.
